Dr. Ellen Duncan is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in Pain Management. She completed her post-doctorate Fellowship in Pain Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1996 and served as an assistant professor at the University Health Science Center before entering private practice.
A San Antonio native, Dr. Duncan completed her undergraduate work from the University of Texas Health Science Center and began her medical career as a Critical Care Registered Nurse. Continuity of care is crucial to her so she also practices Anesthesia two days a week being present for most surgeries any of her patients undergo as the anesthesiologist. She is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, Texas Medical Association, and the Bexar County Medical Society.
Her interests focus on back pain and spinal patients whom she approaches with a clear understanding of what patients experience after spinal surgery having had spinal surgery herself. Dr. Duncan employs a multimodal approach to spine patients including conservative care, medications and has extensive experience in spinal cord stimulation and implantable devices.
Dr. Duncan is married and when not working enjoys art, her dogs, and alpaca ranching.
